Behind the Scenes: J. Thor's Warehouse Meet & Greet

There's more to working in live event production than what happens on show day. In July, we invited potential team members into the J. Thor Productions warehouse for a different kind of meet and greet, one built around conversation, hands-on, activities, and an opportunity to experience some of the work behind live events.

Rather than meeting candidates only across an interview table, we wanted everyone to have an opportunity to get to know our team, see our operation, and experience a little of what working in event production is actually like.

Getting Hands-In With Event Production

Throughout the event, attendees participated in hands-on activities including cable wrapping, microphone setup and tuning, and focusing gobos.

These may seem like small tasks, but they're part of the attention to detail that happens behind the scenes in live event production. They also gave attendees an opportunity to work alongside members of our team, ask questions, and get a feel for the technical side of the industry.

Exploring the Tools of the Trade

Guests also had the opportunity to see and demo some of the professional audio and lighting equipment our crews work with in the field.

For someone considering a career in event production, getting hands-on with the equipment, and talking directly with people who use it every day, can provide a much better understanding of the work than a traditional interview alone.

Getting to Know the People Behind the Resume

Technical skills matter in our industry, but so do communication, teamwork, curiosity, and the willingness to learn.

That's one reason we wanted this to feel less like an interview and more like an oppporuntity for people to connect. With drinks, snacks, hands-on activities, and plenty of conversation, our team and attendees had the chance to get to know one another beyond a resume.

A Great Night at the Warehouse

We appreciate everyone whi joined us and took the time to learn more about J. Thor Productions and the live event industry. The response to the hands-on format was positive, and we enjoyed having the opportunity to meet people interested in becoming part of the industry.

Events like this give us a chance to share a sde of J. Thor that clients don't always see, the warehouse, equipment, preparation, teamwork and people behind the productions we deliver.
